    Itinerary

  • Day 1

Arrive at Kotoka Airport, where our representative will warmly welcome you and escort you to your hotel. Enjoy a refreshing welcome drink upon arrival, followed by a smooth check-in.

  • Day 2

After breakfast, start your day exploring Accra, Ghana’s century-old capital, with a visit to the DuBois Center for Pan-African Culture, the former home of Dr. W.E.B. DuBois. Then, take a drive or stroll through Jamestown, the colonial heart of the city, where you’ll see the historic Ussher and James Forts, built by the Dutch (1650) and British (1673), along with the iconic Lighthouse that once guided ships into Accra’s harbor.

Next, visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Museum, honoring Ghana’s first post-independence President, followed by a stop at the Independence Arch and the historic Osu Christiansborg Castle.

Experience Ghana’s artistic traditions at Nungua, where craftsmen create fantasy coffins shaped like fish, cars, and more—symbolizing the professions of the departed. After lunch, immerse yourself in local creativity at the Arts and Craft Market, where treasures from across Ghana and West Africa await.

Later, you’ll return to the hotel

  • Day 3

After breakfast, check out and depart Accra via the forest belt to Kumasi, the seat of the Ashanti Empire, which was built on a similar basis as the Dahomey Empire, i.e., through wars. Upon arrival, visit the Cultural Center, featuring the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum and various studios of brass makers, potters, drum carvers, and batik makers. Then, take a tour of the Ashanti craft villages to observe craftsmen at work and purchase souvenir gift items. These villages include Ahwiaa, where woodcarvers produce Ashanti stools, fertility dolls, and walking sticks; Ntonso, where Adinkra cloth is processed; and Bonwire, where Kente cloth is woven. Kente, a very colorful fabric, is traditionally worn on festive and significant occasions such as marriage ceremonies and child naming ceremonies.

  • Day 4

After breakfast, embark on a fascinating tour of Kumasi, the heart of the Ashanti Kingdom. Visit the Royal Manhyia Palace Museum, once the residence and office of former Ashanti Kings. Here, centuries of regal history come to life through relics and artifacts dating back to 1700.

Witness the grand arrival of King Nana Osei-Tutu II, carried in a palanquin, as he takes his place in the state. Experience the powerful tradition of Ashanti subchiefs reaffirming their oath of allegiance, all adorned in magnificent traditional regalia. The atmosphere is vibrant, with the public dressed in black and white, rhythmic drumming, and spirited dancing enhancing the celebration. On this special day, the King also welcomes distinguished guests and receives ceremonial gifts, making it an unforgettable cultural spectacle.

  • Day 5

    After
breakfast, depart from Kumasi to Elmina en route visit to Assin Manso Ancestral
    Slave River Park.

    Assin Manso
Ancestral Slave River Park was one of the largest slave markets for gathering
people to sell into slavery during the infamous trans-Atlantic slave trade. It
is especially worth seeing as a prelude to viewing Cape Coast salve castle
since you will be following the route taken by the ancestors of many African
    Americans.

    Then, step
back in time at Cape Coast Castle, built in 1667 by the Swedes and later
controlled by the British. A key site of the transatlantic slave trade, this
UNESCO World Heritage Site houses the West African Historical Museum. The
guide will take you through the governor’s quarters, condemned cells, and the
    ‘Door of Return’.

  • Day 6

Start your day with an early morning journey to Kakum National Park, home to Africa’s world-famous rainforest canopy walkway. This lush tropical Guinea rainforest offers a breathtaking experience as you walk across seven suspended bridges, 40 meters above the forest floor. Marvel at panoramic views stretching for miles and soak in the serenity from viewing platforms attached to towering trees.

After this thrilling experience, return to the park headquarters, where an informative center provides insights into the park’s diverse flora and fauna. With over 40 recorded mammal species—including forest elephants, leopards, and six primate species—the park is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts.

A short distance away, visit the International Stingless Bee Project on the forest’s border. Learn about Ghana’s nine species of stingless bees, their ecological significance, and medicinal benefits. Witness their hives, sample their unique stingless bee honey, and explore a butterfly garden where vibrant forest species gather.

In Elmina town, step into history at the Castle of St. George, the oldest surviving colonial building in sub-Saharan Africa, dating back to 1482. This UNESCO World Heritage site offers a poignant look at the transatlantic enslaved African trade, with an insightful museum showcasing the region’s history.

As the day winds down, spend your final evening in Ghana’s Central Region either unwinding at your accommodation or venturing into town to experience the vibrant local nightlife.

  • Day 7

After breakfast and check-out, explore Elmina Castle, Ghana’s oldest European monument, built in 1482 by the Portuguese. Initially a trade settlement, it later became a key hub in the Atlantic Slave Trade. The Dutch seized it in 1637, controlling the Gold Coast until the British took over in 1871. Today, both Elmina and Cape Coast Castles stand as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, preserving this powerful history.

Next, take a short walk around the vibrant fishing harbor, where traditional dugout canoes line the shore, and the local fish market buzzes with daily life.

After this enriching experience, you’ll be transferred back to Accra.

  • Day 8

After breakfast, spend the morning relaxing at the beachfront of your hotel or doing your last-minute shopping. Check out and drive to the airport for your international flight back home.
